yeah .5-.75 inch per month is normal hair growth. you may start getting split ends as it grows (e.g. if hair catches on to your backpack or purse) and so may want to trim it a bit.

Depends on your hair. Everyone's hair grows at different rates. My hair grows quckly. It would only take about two years to get to that length from the starting point you mention. But I'm 45. If you're young, your hair might grow even faster. I've never grown my hair that long. The women I know who have tend not to look that good, with their hair that long. You could try it, though. My hair suits shoulder length best, though right now it's longer than that. If your hair is TOO long, especially down to your bottom, it tends not to look so good, for some reason. Makes a woman look more like an animal, rather than a "lady". Not very attractive. But if you have a high waist, you might look okay with waist-length hair. Good luck!
