Taking Dyed Black Hair Back to Natural Blonde?

Help!

I have light naturally blonde hair (level 8 a 1-10 scale) but I made the mistake of dying it black last September. I first dyed it myself, then three months later had it done again black at a pro salon (Vidal Sassoon). I have dyed it one other time since then with a semi-permanent.

My hair is relatively healthy... but here's the thing! I want my natural hair color back. I'm no stranger to bleaching and am not opposed to a salon, but my worst fear is that it'll turn out orange or unnaturally yellow, or will end up with a gummy overbleached texture.

I want the natural golden color back. I work in an office so I don't want the result to look unprofessional. Could a salon really get my real hair color back, or at least a natural-looking blonde?

I went to school for cosmetology, and the answer is Yes. Although it won't be exactly the same as your natural haircolor, it will be natural looking, and they will be able to get close enough so that you can grow it out and not have really noticeable roots. It is impossible to get your natural haircolor out of a bottle, but go to a good salon and have them try to match as close as they can to your natural color. (bring a picture if you have one) Then take really good care of your hair until it grows out and you should be fine.

i feel your pain..lol i dyed my hair black and i'm sick of it..tried bleaching it but you have to do it so many times to get it to a certain color that you can actually dye to blonde to make it not golden/orange...it sucks!..it'll take more then one sitting at a salon..i've asked, but different salons say different things..best guess would be go to your local salon and ask them..

The bad thing about s-naturally blonde is that when we dye our hair it will come back darker I regret doing it but you can always choose a dye close to the color we had- I hope that helps-

In my 11th grade year, I too, had dyed my blonde hair to black by accident. Somebody had switched the dye from brown to blonde. I didn't pay attention and I ended up looking like the walking dead. I was horrified. Not really knowing what to do, I went and got a darker shade of blonde. My hair turned bozo orange. The day before my 11th grade pictures. OMG. Please go to a salon. If they can't get it all the way, they could probably come close. Just make sure you choose the right salon.

truthfully? yes, if you go to a haircolour technician that specializes in corrective colour... I've done this many times for clients but the process takes rather a long time to ensure the least amount of damage... and this expertise does not come cheap...

if there is absolutely no chance that under any of the existing artificial tint lies any sort of blonding agent then the process shouldn't be that bad... you will not have your natural colour and highlight back but a master colourist can use several differnt tones when the final desired colour(s) are applied and it can be as natural or unnatural as you choose...

having said all of that, there are some instances where the hair texture, diameter, or previous product used will only lift to a certain degree without damage so be sure to ask colourist best case and worst case senerios in the final colour possibilities

I will also advise that the final overall tone you choose is not too ashy as artificail ash never looks looks like natural highlights and hair made porous by colour removal will have a tendancy to have multiple porosities usually having more warm nearer the mid shaft rather than the ends and toners can be adjusted accordingly
