It's not a matter of what straightener, it's a matter of how-to. Since you said your straightener works perfect until you go outside, try a conditioned mousse. It will not only condition your hair and help fight against split-ends, but it will also hold your style!

Any old mousse will do. I use Suave and Aussie brands. (I alternate between brands so that my tempermental hair doesn't grow too used to one brand... and it's been working for a little over a year now for me!)

Try olive oil soak, or try aloe vera gel, both are great

the chi straight iron

I agree with Jenna, the CHI flat iron is the best one out there. It gets up to 245 degrees which is about 30 degrees hotter than normal professional irons. It is made of 34 different types of ceramic which ensures a more refined ceramic (this equals less "hot spots" which cause major damage which leads to split ends). It uses a lower wattage, as well. However, using styling products will help with your poofy prob. Try a flat iron spray like Matrix Smoothing's Iron Smoother. Just spray it in your hair before you flat iron. Then, when you've finished spray hairspray into the palms of your hands and smooth it over your strands from root to ends. This also gets rid of those little hairs that stick out.

I cant realy give you a specific product but here are tips!!

This should help:

It seems that if we have straight hair, we want curly. If we have curly, we want it straight. Growing up in the seventies, we did everything we could to straighten our hair, even if it meant using the iron! Today, I am presenting you with an easier way to straighten your curls.

* Wash and condition hair.

* Blot dry. Hair should be almost dry when you begin.

* Gather up hair into several sections and secure or clip hair on top of your head. You will be drying the bottom layers first.

* Follow the brush (with your dryer) down the sections of hair as you straighten each section and be sure to keep the dryer moving.

* Take down a new section of hair and proceed as directed above.

* Work your way up the layers until all sections are dry and straightened.

* To curl the ends for a polished look, take your brush and pull the ends under. Finish your styling with a blast of cool air if your hairdryer has this capability.
