Hair coloring experts?

Hello, right now my hair is dark brown and I wanted to go lighter, after using a virtual makeover tool I came up with this color for myself, however I have tried to dye my hair in the past and nothing changes since my hair is too dark. How do I go about this look, do I need to go professional, can I do it at home? Will I need to bleach? I have never bleached, my hair is fairly healthy I never blow dry or curl or anything, and I have dyed my hair 3 times in the past year. Thanks for any help here is the color I wish to get.

The general rule of thumb is, hair color cannot lift old color. I've seen it done, but it's too hard to guess what the end result will be. The best idea is to have a professional do it. They may have to bleach it, but many bleaches we use have conditioners and toners in them so they are safer.

dont dye it! your hair is really nice how it is and i have dyed my hair for so many years and i wish i hadnt.

if u really want to you would have to bleach it but i wouldnt recomend dyin it

there are a few hair colours for people with darker hair loreal has some i used them after i had dyed my hair black they worked well bleaching might not be good for your hair it could turn orange

I have dark hair and I put temporary dye in it and it works fine.. But if you wanna make it noticably lighter you have to bleach it first then dye it whatever color you wanna make it, or it won't work. Best advice is go and get it professionally done. They will make it look wonderful :]

you dont have to bleach it. when you go to buy the dye look at the side of the package. most boxes will show what color your hair will turn with that dye based on how dark your hair is. but since you are going lighter, you have to use a permanent dye. i think that color looks great on you.
