no thast a myth

it won't make it lighter, you'll just get highlights

Yes, it's true. My mom %26amp; her sisters did it when they were teenagers, and a lot of my friends do it. The only bad thing about it is that you have to stay out in the sun for at least 3 hours.

well the sun damages your hair anyways and putting lemon juice on it would just make it fry. my advice is to leave it be guys dont like the unnatural look.

i wouldnt suggest this either ..... try some extensions and do maybe high lights...because sooner or later you will want to go back dark brown

if your hair is dark brn...lemon juice will do nothing except dry it out. (lemon juice is an acid.) you really have to be a blonde or have light brown hair for lemons to work.

Sometimes if you use lightening kits, they will caution you that on dark hair, it might turn orange....heed the caution. I have dark hair and there were no cautions when they first came out, way back in ancient times...my hair had orange stripes for a yr, because dye wouldn't take on the orange.

Yes it will. I've done it before. Sitting in the sun period will lighten your hair, but the lemon juice catalyzes the reaction (makes it speed up) so it gets lighter quicker. If your hair is pretty dark, I'm not sure how much of an effect it will have. I have healthy hair too, and I dye mine a lot. As long as you don't dye it too often (no more than once a month) your hair will be fine. If you really want a serious change dying would be the best choice. (or just get highlights, that will lighten up your hair with out dying all of it)

Good luck

Not really...go to a hairdresser, they can do it without ruining your hair...

Well it would really give you more of highlights but more natural. I used to do that but i used lemon juice and Camile tea it works great if you put in a spray bottle and spray it all over your hair and sit out for awhile then spray it all over again!

It will give your hair a reddish(chestnut) color. The lemon will also make it very dry. . so make sure you condition very well. it works more like highlights.

To answer your question, yes, putting lemon juice on your hair and sitting in the sun will make it lighter. BUT, it is harsh on your hair due to the acid content in lemon juice as the acid content stips the natural from your hair. My suggestion.. there are many products on the market that incorporate lemon juice and conditioners in one. Loreal has such a product. Natural dark brown hair is a rarity and beautiful. If you want lighter hair, I would suggest only putting the 'lemon juice" on the crown and around your face in sections, for natural highlights and for a natural sunkissed look. keep your dark brown hair..just enhance it. ( caution, based on the chemical base of you hair color, you chance ending up with orange hair. Try a test piece first) tip, after highlighting, a natural conditioner is Avocado and Mayonaise..

Put in a blender, puree, apply to hair, tie hair up, place a plastic bag on top..sit in the sun for 20 minutes or wrap in a hot towel. Shampoo and rinse. Jojoba oil also works great on the ends of your hair. Good Luck and feel blessed for the healthy hair you have.

Skin tip, if you use the avacado meat for a hair conditioner, save the skin, turn inside out and rub on your face..after 10 minutes, rinse with tepid water, rinse again with cool water , pat dry and apply a light moistuizer with SPF.

My friend put lemon juice and salt in her hair...which is like dark brown...and now she's got some cool little highlights. I'd say it's worth a try!
