My girlfriend dyed my hair black earlier this week, and my father doesn't approve of it. He thinks I'm a satanist, or I resemble one now. So in order to lift my grounding, I need to dye it back or a lighter color. In order to get the black out I need to bleach it, but how much damage will bleaching do? My hair is shiney, healthy. It was only dyed once, by my girlfriend. It's practically passed my shoulders, but people have always said that long hair looks better on me than short hair.

I plan on bleaching it, and then dyeing it a medium blonde.

Do not bleach your hair yourself. Black dye is very hard to remove. If you bleach it, chances are it will not be an even color...your hair will be a mix of red, blond, and black. Bleach damages hair pretty bad. Your hair will be dry and brittle, or, even worse, it may become yellow and "sticky" and impossible to comb.

I've been there. It has taken seven bleach jobs, numerous bottles of heavy conditioner, cholesterol, hot oil, toner, dye, and two drastic hair cuts to remove the black dye and get my hair back in condition.

Try washing your hair with a "strong" shampoo, like Prell. It could remove some of the dye, so you can dye it a lighter, *brown* shade. If that doesn't work, see a professional. It will be costly, but way better than risking it yourself.

Bleaching hair does make it dry and coarse. As long as you keep using a good conditioner your hair should be just fine.

Going from Black to Blonde might turn it Green, I would definitely go to a Professional if possible. Bleaching ruins the elacticity in your hair and therefore it gets brittle and can break off easier. Let me know how it turns out, if possible!

no,no,no dont bleach ur hair if it is black u have to do it step by step go to a dark brown then a lgt brown then a dark blonde and then bleach it.if u bleach it now it will fry and look groos.
